Welcome to the Active Reading Center (ARC)
We’re Open! Since April, due to the Covid-19 pandemic we switched all our one-on-one lessons to remote learning via Zoom. We are unable to offer on-site lessons until further notice.
The Active Reading Center is the premier resource for struggling readers in the Bay Area. We are physician recommended and have been opening the doors to literacy success since 1991.

Activity Based Learning
Our teaching is activity-based. Skills are formed through a thorough, systematic progression that builds confidence through a series of manageable challenges. ARC teaching is based on the Reading Revolution™ method, a phonic, literature-based program which engages every learning pathway through MULTI-SENSORY ACTIVITIES. These include: physical activities such as treasure hunts and races, interactive games, songs, manipulatives, and many other language opportunities.
The resulting program is fun and effective —
especially for the most challenged learners!
